Does pay-per-click marketing Work?

A recent article in the The New York Times thinks so. They interviewed a small business owner named Tom Telford. He owns a rental management company named Blue Creek Cabins and 2001 he started using AdWords to help increase visitors to his website.

He started by paying Google 60 cents for every person that searched and click on his selected keyword. By 2010 Tom was spending over $140,000 a year on pay-per-click advertising due to the fact that AdWords have become so popular and the competitions was so great that he was sometimes spending more on advertising than he was making in sales.

This article is a good example of how cost-per-click advertising has become more popular over the years and small business owners are starting to find it to expensive and are moving towards other forms of online advertising, like social media, more specifically Facebook and Google+

With this being said, we believe that your small business should embracing all kinds of online marketing and diversify your efforts until you find a solution that fits but always keep in mind that your website is your companies asset. Make sure to use compliant search engine friendly layouts that help your website get good results and not hinder it and always update your website with quality unique content. If you do this your website will produce free organic traffic for years to come.

Be very weary of companies that try and sell you a guaranteed top ranking in Google because they cannot. If they are gaming the system or producing to-good-to be true results chances are Google will update its algorithm and your website will be gone along with all the money you spent.
